Snoopy Family Passport Wallet

"Increase your good deeds, so you won't have time for the bad ones - Ramadan Quote - Mufti Menk "

Ramadan is half way through now. How time flies. I've been busy catching up with prayers, reading the Quran, cooking and a little bit of sewing.
Nowadays, we can listen to Islamic lectures from scholars around the globe. Alhamdulillah for the internet! We can learn so many things!

I made a few Indonesian snacks I learn from YouTube too. My fave channel for Indonesian food is Dapur Dina. I tried many recipes from her and always successful. Well, Ramadan is the time when you really miss your hometown and your food, right?

Back to sewing, I finished this Snoopy zip around family passport wallet as custom order last week. She wanted the snoopy print. I got quite a few snoopy prints from my trip to Japan and Indonesia last year so I'm very happy to finally use them.

The travel wallet has one long zipper pocket and one slip pocket. In the beginning I thought it would be too bulky on the seam but I already said yes to the customer. I did this quite often X_X.

I tend to be too excited for the challenge but Alhamdulillah it turned out fine. In sewing, sometimes what you imagined is not always applicable but then you can always find a way to make it work for you.

If you haven't already, you can check the zip around tutorial on my previous post. If you have any questions regarding the pattern, you can always email me and I will try to help you as much as I can.

And here's what I made last week! I was watching YouTube about different typl of dumplings across Asia and here's my Indonesian version of Chicken Dumplings with Grated Carrot on Top. You can find the recipe HERE.

Indonesian Chicken Dumplings

So, that's a little story this week. I hope I can write more often. I still have a few pending stories from my Japan Trip this year! Well, it was all on Instagram but I'd still love to write them down for future reference. Thank you for stopping by!

Have a nice day

Zip around Family Passport Wallet

Hello,

Many people asked me on Etsy if I make zip around wallet and finally I now I can give the option. Introducing the new zip around family passport wallet!

image 0

Installing all around zipper is quite tricky, because the wallet is interfaced with heavy interfacing plus batting.  So I made several changes on the interfacing. I used heavy interfacing only on the main lining and using woven interfacing on the main exterior and used the same thin fleece batting for the padding. It worked out beautifully.

I will take photos and maybe videos when I make the next wallet and write a tutorial for it in my next post.  Make sure you subscribe to my blog so you won't miss the post.
This Paris family passport wallet is now available on Etsy You can choose for 4 , 6 or 8 passports. It's very handy and keep everything securely inside.

I also made the above travel wallet ( a custom order) with zip around closure. I will make more of this for stock (and I need to sew up those stash!) . The green London print fabric is finished now but I have the peach one in case you want the same print.

You can buy the Family Passport Wallet Pattern HERE , ETSY or in my WEBSHOP

Thank you for stopping by,
 Have a nice day!

A Short Break and Travel Wallet

Hello,

Last weekends we went to Shillong for a short break. We stayed in a new B&B resort called Windermere Resorts. Currently they only have 7 rooms available but the rooms are lovely. It has a feeling of country home. The resorts is on the hill top, surrounded by pine trees. It was nice relaxing trip for all of us!

Windermere Resorts

The boys just wanted to stay in and watching soccer match on TV. Luckily I brought a couple of wallets that needs to be handsewn.

This purple travel wallet was for Nia. She wanted purple polka dots and chose this fabric from the photos in my Instagram page. The fabric is a lightweight Indian cotton fabric

I combined the polkadots with a matching solid purple to tone down a bit so that it won't look too busy.

Wonder clips always be a great help when finishing the binding.

And here is the view when it's filled up. It can hold up to 6 cards, 2-3 passports and boarding passes, pen holder, slip pockets and zipper pocket.

All in one wallet! If you want to make the wallet, you can get the pattern HERE

As I work with different thickness of fabric, I often experimenting with the interfacing. For this purple wallet, since the fabric is thinner, I used heavy weight interfacing on both main body and added a layer of thin batting. If you're in India, you can read about interfacing in this post. I hope she will like it!

Thank you for stopping by,

have a nice day!

More Passport Covers

Hello,

Purple Flower

Time flies when you're having fun! That saying is quite true. This week started with meeting a new friend, who happened to travel to Guwahati. It was a fun meeting her though very briefed since she had to go back to Indonesia.

Traveling alone needs a certain degree of organization. Everyone has their own way of keeping everything organized. Some people love to carry many things and always need to print out the e-tickets and hotel booking, etc, that they need a bigger passport wallet where they can keep everything in one place. Many people also prefered a multi compartment zippered bag.

perfect gift for mom

I do love to carry a bigger family passport wallet whenever we travel as family. However, when I travel alone, sometimes I like to go minimalist and carry a compact passport sleeve just for my passports and a few cards like the one above.

Slim and Compact

I can easily put this inside my sling bag and the snap button will keep it secure.
I made another passport cover using the fabric I bought from my Japan trip this year. It's a cute Mickey Mouse print in Denim! It is the same fabric as the Snoopy Passport Cover.

hand sewn binding

Hand sewn binding is always my prefered method and in fact my fave part of sewing wallets! When it's done and the binding turned out beautifully, it always gives me joy, a sense of victory!

What about you? What is your traveling style?

Thank you for stopping by.

have a nice day!

Paris Theme Travel Wallet

Guwahati, Assam, India
Hello,

The last couple of weeks I've been quite productive. I guess the Konmari mission brings a good energy!

Today I finished this yellow Paris Travel Wallet which has been in my WIP bin for quite a while.

Working with directional fabric is tricky sometimes. This yellow Japan linen has Eiffel Tower and bag print all over but they are not in the same direction. I didn't pay attention when I cut and turned out the Eiffel Tower was upside down. So I decided to cut another one and will think of way to use the previous one.

Since I finished tidying up my fabric stash, now searching for fabric combo is much easier. For this particular wallet, I decided to use this pretty small roses print in butterscotch yellow from sevenberry for the card slot. I had the fabric for quite a white and I am so glad to finally able to use it!

This travel wallet is very handy since it can hold up to 6 cards, 3 passports, boarding passes, pen holder, zipper pocket for your cash and 2 slip pockets to keep your documents.

It closes with snap button and the polka dots binding to make the passport holder sturdy.
I am happy with the result! Sometimes, it's worth it to do that extra works to create beautiful things.

Thank you for stopping by!

Until then,

Link Up Party

Batik Passport Holder

Hello,

I finished this family passport holder last month. It was a custom order and she wanted it in Batik. Off course I was delighted. I've kept several bundle of bali batiks that I am selling in the shops for my future project.

Don't you love those bundles?

The new bundles are all so pretty and so inspiring. She chose one from the green bundle in my Fabric Shop and I really enjoyed creating this Family Passport Wallet

I decided to combine it with a matching green poplin and going with softer color on the inside. It matched beautifully. I hope she will love it.

For this wallet, she chose to add long zipper on one side and 2 clear pocket. Instead of the small zipper pocket like in the original pattern.
I've been planning to make tutorial on the long zipper pocket, but still have not got the time to do it. Insha Allah when I make the next wallet, I will take  proper pictures.

Until then,

Happy Sewing

Hello,
Yes, 2018 is here and I hope you all had a great New Year Party and got your resolutions written down. Me? I'm not into writing resolution. I gave up long time back. It never worked out for me. So I settle to take everything one day at a time. Be better everyday.

I didn't get time to write in December, in spite of having a few things done.

We started 2018 with a good note!! Yesterday my younger son completed his first taekwondo competition where he secured his first gold medal!! It was really a proud moment.

My elder son will have his first piano/music concert with his music school in 2 weeks. He's been practicing a lot. (he won't let me record the video -_-)

Practice makes Perfect

And look who visited us!

Zahra & Zoya visited us and I made sling bags for them as I promised
on their last visit a couple of months ago

Our New Year's feast

Personalized Family Passport Holder

Hello,

It's Saturday already and I've been pretty busy finishing orders before Ramadan month starts next week. I won't be taking custom order from next week until the 2nd week of August.

Today I'd share one of my recent orders. She asked for personalized passport holder. I have an embroidery machine but somehow I prefer hand embroidery. Why? #1. it's fun  #2 it's faster ( at least for me).

Hand Embroidery Family Name

I did the embroidery on the flap with a small backstitch. I thought of doing a slip stitch embroidery, but with pearl cotton, this will look better. I copied the main letters from a Japanese book and the rest was my free handwriting.

Personalize it with Hand Embroidery

The main musical fabric is imported Japanese linen. She wanted to combine it with green and it took me several days to get a matching solid green.

Family Passport Holder for 6

I searched in my stash and found the perfect green shot cotton fabric. I love shot cotton or handloom cotton. It's very versatile and the color is very unique. Also, it's a breeze to embroider.

Now you can order your wallet and bags with a personalized name on it! I add a listing in my Etsy Shop as an Add-on service.

What do you think?

Improvisation Part Deux - Family Passport Holder for 4

Hello again,

Weather is still pleasant in the Northeast of India. We got plenty of rain (and storm) this year and I hope the summer will not be too hot.

Since I posted my family passport holder with 4 slots in Facebook , many has message me. Many people need a smaller version of the wallet.
If you already bought the pattern (if you have not, links available at the end of this post), here's simple things you can do.

To make 4 slots passport holder :

1. Cut only the top and bottom card slots (Exterior Fabric, Lining and Interfacing).  And proceed as per pattern instructions.

2. Adjust the main body piece (Exterior, Lining, batting) by reducing the HEIGHT by 1 inch. The width should remain the same.

3. (Optional) Reduce the WIDTH of the flap exterior and the interfacing piece by 1 Inch. The length of the flap piece should remain the same. Or else you don't have to change the flap pattern if you want a wider flap, just like  these fun and beautiful wallets by Kausalya of The Turquoise Paisley

Now,  don't you love her wallets? They are super cute and fun. Check The Turquoise Paisley Facebook page to see more of fun handmade passport wallets and other fun stuff she made from Indian Fabrics

Improvisation on the family passport holder

Hello,

I got an email from a customer asking if the passport wallet I listed in Etsy will be able to hold 12 passports as they are dual passport holder. So, yes I can make it happen (I feel like a magician ^^ )

So, after carefully thinking I made a couple of changes in term of material that I used or listed in the PdF Pattern.

For you who already bought the pattern, this tips may come out handy if you need to make one too.

1.  The interfacing. In this Map Family Passport holder I used Medium Heavy interfacing on the exterior only. In the main body lining fabric, I used woven interfacing. I also used woven interfacing for the passport slots. Since I need them to be less rigid. This way, 2 passports can easily fit in one slot.

2. I omitted the mini zip and ID slot and added exterior zipper instead.

3. I also made the flap  longer by 0.5 inch to accommodate the bulk.

This family passport wallet is already on it's way to its new home. I will be offering this options in my shops.

This is the best part of custom order. Sometimes a request from a customer can lead  you to new ideas.

Thank you for all of you who've been supporting my small business all these years.

Until next time,

Happy Sewing

Smaller passport holder with card wallet is back in the shop

Hello,

It's already Saturday. I hope you had a great week.  My sons started the new session with excitement. The elder one was happy because there was not so much of shuffling, which mean he has the same classmates as when he was in grade 7. The younger was a bit upset, because his besties - 5 of them- are all in a different section. But my younger son is a friendly one, so I don't worry.

most popular wallet in the shop now

Meanwhile, now my custom order is back on track. I managed to finished a couple of overdue orders and sent them out.

Card Wallet Organizer & Phone Sleeve

Meanwhile, I decided to put this smaller passport card holder back in the shop. I got several orders for the same style and will make a couple for stock.

Cute Black Cat Passport Holder
This wallet can hold up to 2 passport. The slot can also hold boarding passes since I made the pocket quite deep.

Details of the passport wallet interior

It has 6 card slots, with one long zipper pocket and 2 slip pockets. Pen loop and swivel hook are also added.

Perfect Size Passport Cover  to fit inside your Purse

And of course I love my new metal label, don't you?

Handsewn binding

I always finished the wallet binding by hand. I love the neat finish of hand sewing. It gives the look of "handmade".

And most of customers really love it. For one wallet normally I can finish the binding within 30 minutes.

So, what are you working on next week? I'll be working on another family passport holder, another card wallet organizer orders  and also more phone sleeve orders.

Until then,

Happy Sewing
