Safari Travel Wallet Video

Hello, 

Finally, the video tutorial for the Safari Travel Wallet is up on my YouTube Channel. I hope the video can help to visualize how to make the wallet from the beginning. I am trying to get a better angle as I recorded the video and also try not to skip the process. The video is sped up  2 to 3 times from the original. If you want to watch it at a slower speed, you can do so by clicking the setting on your YouTube screen.  

The original pattern only has instructions for flap closure which is pretty easy, but as many customers like zip-around closure more, I decided to make the video for the zip-around version. If anyone wants to see the flap closure version, I will record one when I make my next wallet. Do let me know in the comment.

I really enjoy recording the video and I really hope to share more sewing tutorials in the future. If you heard some funny noise in between the videos, that's because my son was watching a football match, or sometimes, someone came and asked something in the middle of the recording. Maybe I should put a sign like "recording in progress, do not disturb" LOL

Double Zip Wallet and Travel Wallet

It's almost the end of the year and December has been a busy month for me. Thank you so much for always supporting my small business.

In between working on orders, last week I went for a photography workshop held by Sony for Sony Alpha Camera Users.

Though it turned out to be more of marketing presentation but I enjoyed it nevertheless.  Especially looking at all those high end cameras and lenses

here are few things that's been happening

I made a green polka dot passport wallet  while working on orders and also made a camera strap sleeve. Isn’t that cool? I am thinking of add this in my shop. But I need to make a few more first! What do you think?

So about the double zip wallet (pattern by Noodlehead)  I finally cut this green apple denim fabric. Nowadays I am trying to make few pieces of one product.   This is one of my way to increase ready to ship stocks in my Etsy shop and of course to use my fabric stash ^^ . I hope with more ready to ship items, I will be driving more sales! 
Besides, it makes me more creative. It's way more effective to do it this way that just scrolling Pinterest or Instagram.

I posted the above photo in Instagram a few days ago. I know posting on social media is easier and faster but I want to write a blog post about it too for my personal reference. It's easier to let the buyers know on my blog then scrolling endless Instagram Photos. 

I love this simple wallet. It has all the necessary slots and pockets for your daily needs like slots for multiple cards, bills, mobile phone and of course the double zip pockets are very handy. Especially if you like to keep all those shop receipts like me ^__^. 

I made a  little changes from the pattern, that is the way of attaching zipper. I used zipper tabs which I find easier for me. Though the top stitching part is a bit struggling. But I am happy with the result and I hope you too.

I have a few double zip wallet in the making right now which hopefully will be ready after New year! If you're in Instagram, feel free to follow my behind the scene stories. That's all for today, I better get back to my sewing table and finish up a couple of orders before the New year roll in.

Foxy Passport Wallet with curvy edges and Konmari Updates

Hello,

How's your week going on? My week's been pretty busy but in between I went to spa and pamper myself. The Marie Kondo book "The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up"  has arrived and I'm currently reading it. I will finish the book and will plan my "konmari" move ^_^.  So far in my sewing room, I already put all my tools and hardwares in one corner. Arranging the fabric stash would be the tough part. I am thinking of destashing fabrics which does not spark joy anymore. In the meantime, I finished this wallet yesterday. This is another take on my Passport Wallet pattern. I had this fox fabric for a while and I thought it will be a fun travel wallet.

New style Passport Holder

I combined it with  brown polka dots fabric. I always come up with one idea and I usually improvise as I go along. As I was cutting interfacing for the flap, I decided to make a curvy flap. It looked really good and I loved it.

As for the card slot, I wrote a tutorial in this POST to get a patchwork style card slot.

And then as I was going to the binding part, I was in two minds- curvy edges or straight edges. I thought making bias binding was too much of work. But I wanted curvy edges, so I stopped working and went about doing other chores. 

In the evening I went back to my sewing table and decided let's make the bias! And it's so worth it!!

Upon reading Marie Kondo Books, I realized that, doing or keeping something that truly "spark joy" give us an immense happiness and satisfaction. With all the  instant updates we always see in social media, sometimes as a handmade maker, we feel rushed. We jumped to the rat race and forget to enjoy the process. If you've been thinking for decluttering your space (and life), you might love to read the book.. Yes I know, I've been thinking along the same line too "why do I need to learn to tidy up?" but after reading the book, there are a few things I learn, like "putting things away created the illusion that the clutter problem has been solved".  That definetely sound like me LOL.

Sunday Stash 13 - New Instagram

Hello,

I hope you are having a relaxing Sunday. My Sunday started with a visit to the doctor to consult about my allergy. Last Sunday we went and he told me to be a vegetarian for a week. Well, I did , except one day when I went to visit DH's aunt and I gobbled paratha and chicken korma. Changing is tough! ^_^. The good news is everything is OK {Alhamdulillah} and with the meds , hopefully I will be fine in a month {Insha Allah}.

What about this new instagram? I mentioned in my previous post about @chezviesfabs. 

The idea was to make it easier for me and my customers to see what fabric options they have when they want to order wallets and bags. All this time, I have an album set up in my google photos, but since everyone is on Instagram, I think this will be a better platform. 

I already uploaded a couple of fabrics and will keep on updating it everyday. All in the information regarding the fabric is written under each photo. 

I also added polka dots and stripes, as I love to use them as accent and binding. 

I hope this way, it is easier for the buyers to see and they can also mix and match the fabrics themselves.

Passport Card Sleeve Pattern - Testers Photos Part 3

Passport Card Sleeve Pattern

I really love how the above black and white passport cover turned out. While making the pattern, I always did a few to make sure that everything was OK before I sent the pattern to the testers. Even with all the sewing, there's always something that I missed. Hence the pattern testing stage is very important, even for a basic simple pattern.

The ladies who helped me with this pattern were simply awesome and also I want to thank Namrata of Bagstock who helped me proofreading every single draft. A big thank you once again to everyone (group hugs!!!).

Now, let's jump in to see the last part of the tester photos! Some of the testers made a couple of Passport sleeve. You can also check their photos in my Pinterest.

A statement travel wallet

Hello and Happy Monday!

It's already middle of the month. It's been a busy month for me. On the home front, my younger son won his second Taekwondo medal on Saturday. It was a bronze medal but we are so proud of him!!

Sewing wise, I finished 3 passport holder in 3 different style. Two were orders and the 3rd one I made for stock.

She wanted the Travel wallet for his son which can fit in  passport booklet of 3. I suggested this pattern which I used for my own wallet when I travel.

I change  the interfacing for the slot using woven interfacing and it can easily fit in 3 booklet Passport.

I also added a flap just to make it extra secure. The flap measure 0.75" w x 6" H. It's perfect size for this wallet. As for binding, I decided using the same exterior fabric.

The second wallet she wanted for herself. She loves sewing and she loves green. After sending her photos of  fabric choices, she settled for this sewing notion print which I got from Japan trip last time.

I am so glad I finally got to use this fabric. On the inside I used similar combo as this wallet, which she initially referred to.  It's a perfect statement wallet, right? That's why handmade fabric wallet is always better, IMHO. ^^

The 3rd one is this passport cover using the same fabric as the first wallet. I really love this naval theme fabric.

This was a fast project. I am in the process of writing the pattern right now which hopefully will get into testing by the end of this week.

I love how compact is this one and if needed, you can add more card slots on the other sleeve as well, or maybe adding zipper on the other sleeve. What do you think?

I am quite happy to be able to finish the wallets last week. I guess the batching is working great for me. They say, it needs 21 days to create a habit and 90 days to become a lifestyle. I even got myself a new planner! 

Now I can keep everything in track. Even though there are lots of apps on the phone nowadays, I feel writing on a book is so much better.

I hope I will be able to stick to this new habit :D

Travel Wallets and a sling bag

March was a pretty busy month for me, sewing wise. Not that I sew so much, but I started digging on my quilting UFO and decided to pick up where I left off. Let's see where this decision will take me next. 

Passport Holder Travel Wallet

In between digging up my UFO bins, I finished this Paris Travel Wallet order from my Etsy Shop. I love working with Japanese Linen. This travel wallet is another pattern of mine, which I have not time to finish writing the instructions. But I will, hopefully soon ;) 

It has plenty of pockets for passports, cards, ID card, Zipper Pocket and slip pocket. I love my wallets with binding since it gives the handmade look and we can always improvise with the binding colors/fabrics. Plus, the wallet will last longer, even if it's over loaded. 

Yellow Travel Wallet

Another finish is this Yellow Travel Wallet for a local order from a friend. I still need to one more for her, which will be done this week. You can get the pattern HERE.

The hardest part is to choose the matching color and how to make it one of a kind. 

One thing I still struggling till now is installing metal snap :( . I have all the tools that are needed to install the snap and even watching tutorial on YouTube but I always end up wasting more than half dozen of snaps. But I won't give up ^_^. 

If you follow me in Instagram, you must have seen this Indigo blue sling bag. I made that for hubby's aunt who visited us last week. I made a sling bag for her last year to take when she goes for her morning walk, now her friend wanted one. 

I made a simple one with zipper top and a front pocket which closes with magnetic snap button. I love this Indian print fabric, it is one of my fave print.  It was a fun quick project. I hope the lady who ordered it will love it. 

So that was a bit of late post from last week. I'm looking forward to finish up a couple of projects from my UFO bins this month! What about you?
