Five Patch Table Runner

Hello,

I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do. - Leonardo Da Vinci

This week, I finished another table runner. It's made up from  3 five patch blocks with sashing and border. I used Indian fabrics for this runner because I simply love the colors. I always use spray starch while working with Indian voile fabrics, that way they are easier to sew. I was thinking to give a teal border but after auditioning several fabrics, I decided to go with the white.

Green table runner

I'm happy with the result. When I work on a quilt, I tend to go with the flow. I don't always have the whole fabric chosen in the beginning. Hence it always takes me a long time to finish even a simple project.

Reversible Table Decor

As for the backing fabric, I have this perfect green and teal cotton fabric. I really love the color. I quilted the middle block with echo quilting, the idea I get from Leah Day  And the 2 outer blocks, I did a grid line quilting. On the sashing and border, I traced the quilting lines using a scallop ruler. I love result on the reverse side of this table runner. It made the runner a reversible one!

I used fleece batting which I got from Tina of TSI . This green table runner finished at 14" x 38" a perfect size for buffet table or center table.

I finished a couple of mini quilt tops and hopefully able to finish one or two of them next week. Check my Instagram from the behind the scene pictures.

Linky Party:

First Quilt Finish 2018

Hello,

Yay! Finally I finished my first quilt of the year. Nothing fancy though. I found the disappearing 9 patch blocks in my UFO bin and there are 6 blocks. I decided to make 2 runners and in the meantime I completed only one. There are so many things I am working on at the same time. You can follow my progress in my Instagram account.

I tried free motion quilting after a long time. I used the R foot on my Husqvarna Viking and calypso thread, which work beautifully. There were thread breaking moments but after changing my needle to quilting needle, it seems to reduce the problem.

I had discussion with Jyoti and we agreed that the batting was the culprit. I will try using a different batting for the other runner.

My quilting is far for perfect. But I learned a lot.
Finished is always better than perfect, right?

the son helped me with this shoot <3
What have you been working on? Any UFO gets done this month?

I gotta run now, I hope I will be able to finish this mini log cabin quilt before I travel next week.

Thank you for stopping by,

Until then,
Happy Sewing

I love green!!

It's been raining for the last 2 weeks, though the weather become more tolerable but the lawn become muddy. Luckily the rain always comes at night, at least we get to see the sunshine during the day. And the flowers have gone bad to my MIL's dismay. But I love rainy season, cos even though it's humid at least the garden is greener.

and who doesn't love green?

Yes, I finally completed this one. Simple table runner using charms and a slim blue border make it more charming.

The runner is available for grabs in my Etsy Shop

I love the feel of mulmul cotton in quilt. It's so soft. it's challenging to work with cos it's stretchy, maybe I should use more starch next time I work with mulmul.

So, that was last week, this week I've finished baby quilt for a friend, which 2 years overdue (ha!!)
I wanted to make the quilt when her baby was born but then you know....it's got delayed.

I washed and ironed it today and will take a proper pics tomorrow and hopefully will write a blog post about it.

if not, you can find my pics and mini stories in my Instagram, Facebook or Google+

Until then,

Happy Quilting

Another UFO completed

I need to stock up more mini quilts, I told DH the other day.
I have few mini quilt top ready to quilt but always get distracted by so many other things. Sometimes I wish I had 5 pair of hands :D

Quilted square table runner pinwheel in green and orange rustic country style home decor
I am not feeling too well since Saturday but my mind and hand need to keep doing something. Since I have completed the quilting and attach the binding last Friday, I only need to hand stitch the binding. So, instead of whining away, I put on my my fave drama and sewing away.

you know, not everyday I get  a matching backing fabric and I was ecstatic when I saw this green n orange cotton.

Well, I've been playing with this pinwheel for awhile {last November or December} and just could not decide the backing. I think the saying it's true "everything happen at it's own time and place" ^_^

It's a good feeling to complete something!

This mini square table runner is up for sale in my ETSY SHOP and if you want customized quilt I'd be happy to help you. You can email me or check out my Facebook Page.

Meanwhile I am working on another baby quilt order.
I made this test block yesterday  and I quite liked it.

Hopefully I won't be distracted again..^0^

Until then,

Happy Quilting

New Mantra and 2 minis ^_*

I recently finished 2 mini quilts. I guess I enjoy making the minis than the big one. How about you? The thing is I have so many things I want to try making but there's NEVER enough time. Though now the kids spends longer time in school and they come back home at 3pm, still I could not spare more than 1.5 hrs on sewing/quilting.
I'm the type who can not start working unless my house is properly cleaned and everything is back on its place. But I guess now it's time to apply this new mantra :D

before I became obsessed with the never ending dust blowing from the river bank.

Now, about my minis, here's what I finished recently.

Green Red with cherry and strawberry.

I really love using this decorative stitch. It's stitch #15 in my Bernina Bernette e92c.

Second one is this one. Yes yes I know..I cut a whole bunch with {intention} of making a big quilt. But  I sort of losing my focus, because as I mentioned in my previous POST, this card tricks block is actually TRICKY :D

but I really love this block

I put candy polkadots at the back, it sort of match with the card tricks blocks..don't you think?

I still have this batik fabrics plus few  (alot of)  HSTs which I think I will make  something else.

So, that's my story...I still have lots of things to do in my sewing list so I better hurry now ;)

Until then

Happy Quilting
