Hasil Pameran Perdana

I'm officially back after my first ever exihibtion here . Well, it was a hectic week and the exhibition was extended for 1 day. In the beginning I really don't know what to expect. I keep varieties of stuff, from my handmade clothes/bags/pouches to Batik & Jilbab (itung-itung mempopulerkan jilbab disini..:D)

Anyway, it went off well and I got quite good response and even custom order..(YAY!!), some even asked to be informed when I have my next exhibition. InshaAllah, I will have my next exhibition on November, December and March 2009.

What I learnt from my fellow sellers are:

1. Most of them are homemakers who's doing their business from home. I met one lady, she must be over 60 years old. Her stall was opposite mine. She's selling Mekhala Chadar (Assamese Traditional Dress). She has her own boutique, she drives around her self (in this part of India this is something commendable!!). she teaches village girls to do embroidery and other needleworks. She's doing around 10 exhibition in and out of the city.

2. There's always someone who appreciate your handmade stuff.

well, in the beginning I'm not sure if someone even take a look at the dresses or bags that I made. And I was so happy that somebody ACTUALLY liked it and BOUGHT it ha ha ha...

3. Always come prepared..hehehe...I mean, like other details: white sheet to cover the walls & tables, nails, hammer, old bed cover to cover you stall at night..he he he...

I am afraid I didnt take much photos....malu.com. So, here are few fotos that I took....

Just a little up date

These few days been busy with my first ever handycraft & handloom exhibition. It's on for 1 week from 8th to 14th september from 10 am to 8 pm. So it's kinda hectic days for me. First days was going ok and a bit tiring, since I haven't been "working" for the last 6 years hehehe...anyway, it's fun. I got to meet lots of new sellers who mainly ladies who run their business from home just like me and they do exhibition from time to time.

Actually we have lots of exhibition in here. We have this Haat call NEDFI haat which exhibit craft from North East Indian states. Different groups will hold the exhibition. SO if I want to join certain group I have to approach the committee. It's not that easy and at time needs recommendation from senior members, which is in my case, I was introduced by one friend of my MIL.

Yeasterday was good, cos few people really like what I made and some even give custom order..(YAY)...hehehe...now I learnt one thing "never underestimate your talent" he he he...The dress that I thought no body will take a look at it, was sold, even few bags & purses...:D

so, friends, wish me luck for today...I'll update the story later again....:)

Miss you all
