Good morning Thursday

Sometime back I went to my regular "button shop" and got a very nice book. Well, VINTAGE pattern book. My "button shop" is a very tiny little shop with lots of sewing and crafting supplies stuffed in here and there. There's hardly any place for us customers to stand. This one particular shop is always rush though. Oneday I happened to ask them if they have pattern book (foreign one) and they told me to come back after fewdays. Fewdays later I came again and he showed me this vintage pattern book...~awwwww~..It's dusty but the pattern is still intack neatly on the back cover...OOohh how I love it....:D

I almost finished with the frock. I made the 3 similar frocks this time, cos from my last exhibition lots of people seems to love this type of frock. Still have to do the handstitching part and some embroidery though. I'm getting better with ruffles ~yay!~ Sometimes the ruffle just doesn't get even at all..and I have to do it all over again..:D anyway, I'm quite happy this time.

Oh did I mention about the new found handwoven TRIM?? I'm so excited about it. It was only few meters left and I just picked it up. This type of trim not always available. In here people use it as a saree border or mekhla chadar border. So we're not allowed to but only 1 m, since it's made to fit few sarees/mekhla. The design is so pretty and it was like love at the first sight ..:D

That's it for today I guess, I'm going to blogwalk a bit and then get down to my daily routines.

Have a great Thursday

^_^

Wednesday Update

I'm in the middle of doing another sewing projects, got stuck for awhile cos I forgot to cut the fabric for the bow..hmm maybe because my tummy is screaming hunger all the time..:P. Anyway, after lunch I dont feel like finishing it..I mean after the heavy lunch I tend to feel very sleepy, so I turn on my netbook and started browsing the FB (I know!! FB is really fun but also time consuming :D), then a bit of blog hopping, check my ETSY and Another ETSY I run with my best friend, Wulan. Both of us sort of MAD about Indian rich culture ( I think that's why God gifted us our DH..:D). Everyday we discuss about different projects, too bad we live in a different city..:(

Today is Bihu holiday so my DH's at home and the kids just cling on to him all the time, and I can do my sewing peacefully hehehhe...The boys have been wanting to make Tom and jerry mask. So today 3 of them got down and made the masks. Dh helped them doing the drawing and cutting and my elder one is doing the coloring. The younger one is a bit fidgety, so as long as his one is done he's quite happy.

Ok, time to go back to work now...I wish I get more time to blogwalk...;)

Thanks alot for stopping by and have a nice crafty day

a quick post: HAPPY EASTER ~Edited~

Just a quick post to wish you all a HAPPY EASTER!!...:D

The past week's been very hectic. Finishing all the custom order I received during my exhibitions, everyone want it to be done before 14th since it's our NEW YEAR..err..Assamese New Year and more tunics to make.
These are 2 of them:

Oh and we sent out the KID's MAIL SWAP 2 days late because of BLAST in our neighborhood which make all of us stunned and speechless. It was a terrible terrible thing!!!!!...
My son's handmade cards. I let him choose the embelishments and he loves my trims and buttons so much I literally have to stop him cutting them..LOL

On top of that, my elder son's school has started and he got so excited cos the 1st time he goes by school bus. Thank God, he could get up early on the 1st day it self..LOL . He's a late raiser otherwise, which makes everyone worried, esp. his grandmother (I live in join family). Anyway, all went off well in the 1st day..
Waiting for the bus

Aww...I took lots of photos but haven't got the time to download it...:(

Gtg now...Once again Happy Easter and PEACE to the world...

Have a great weekends

What are you doing in a "MELA"?

This week is my second week in the Mela with a different group. Here, all these craft shows, exhibition, melas are organized by group. Some organized by state government. The private groups usually run by few ladies, who are homemaker and run their business from home. Well, most of them are elderly ladies..:D
The first day was fun. I got lil customers who liked my skirt very much that she didn't want to take it off and she also like my yellow dress.

Yesterday was my second day, the weather was so bad. Rain thoughout the day, there was even a hail storm in the morning. My elder son got so excited, he screamed "Mama, it's snowing it's snowing"..LOL..poor fellow, he never sees snow as yet..:P

the white hails

All of us sellers really feel very down but thankfully towards the evening the rain stop and the weather improved. It was such a boring day when there's no people streaming in to the stalls, and we were -sellers- just chatting away or just reading some magazine.

She's painting her nails..:D

And I'm trying to finish my smocking dress..:D

and this is I've done yesterday morning..simple skirt..:D

Well, I hope today will be a better day..^_^

Thank you for reading this and have a nice day

Multi Lingual State

I've been writing about multi lingual in my Facebook Notes recently. This fenomenon really intrugue me cos I notice here people can converse using 3 or even 4 languanges simultanously. They can speak in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali!!..Sometimes I see 2 people are talking di different languages and still they can understand each other. I mean, I came from a country (I'm Indonesian, now settle in India) which has one National languange. So, I guess, all my life ~ without I realize~ I was "trained" to speak and think in single languange!. While I notice, my Indian husband can swiftly speak in those languages without any difficulties...:D
My sons study in prep school which basically English medium. But the children came from different cultural background who speak different languanges. So, in the school, the teacher use those 4 languanges (english, hindi, assamese and bengali) to make them understand. That way the other children -indirectly- learn other languanges besides their mother tounge and english.
Anyway, yesterday I met my DH client who own a tabloid. The tabloid is written in English, Assamese and Hindi. He told me that I must read it. I said okay, but of course I won't understand the hindi & assamese scripts...:D

Shop till you drop at Mela

Okay, so I'm a shopoholic. During my last week's bazaar (exhibition or we call it "mela" here), I collected few stuff from other seller. I think I shop more than I sell...LOL...
Never can resist the urge to buy those lovely stuff made by the weavers...and those pretty fabrics or those gorgeous mekhla chadar.
One lady next to my stall has the most beautiful design of block print mekhla (they are done in silk or cotton). Too bad I don't wear mekhla my self..:(

Anyway, here few stuff I picked up...God help me, next week I will have a nother week of "mela", I hope I will not end up shopping again..

The Kid's Mail Swap

Got an email from Christie today confirming about my son's swap partner...Thanks alot Christie..:)

I told my lil brat, that he will have 5 new friends. He asked me how come? I told him about the swap, how he will make some picture and we will go to the post office and post to each one of them. He's so excited that he takes out the drawing book and ask "is it okay if I send them Batman or superman??"..ehm..he's still so much into "superheroes" :D For the time being I let him busy imagining what he's going to send to his 5 friends..:D

I think this kid's mail swap is really great idea, it helps today's children to learn sharing and caring, even for someone so far. Make them learn that even though they live in a small town of a faraway country they still can make and have a new friend.

Cheers to Christie...

Have a nice day...

Good morning wednesday

The last 3 days I haven't been able to blogwalk as much as I like it..:D I'm having my first exhibition this year, and it runs for 2 weeks. So till 6th of April I'll be quite busy, but there's always time for crafting ;).

I live in this small city in North East India, and we are celebrating the NEW YEAR called Bihu. This is the time when everyone giving and getting presents...(Yay!!). Usually it's something wearable. I always looking forward for this occasion...well, I'm a child at heart afterall..:P

So, today I got up a bit early and decided to do some "visiting" and "Facebooking". Well, Facebook is really time consuming sometimes..LOL. I mean, meet my old friends, ex-collegues, old flame etc...Back to my blog visit, the6o'clockstitch is having an SWAP, which I definetely will sign up. I love to SWAP...I've done few before which mostly with my Indonesian friends and I post them in my other BLOG

Take the Right Photographs...but how???

~sigh~...I think the toughest part of running an online shop is to take the RIGHT, GOOD pictures!. Yesterday, I spent the whole day just to click few photographs of my stuff which I want to list on my ETSY and my Other SHOP. But as usual it's TOUGH to get the right Lights, angle, background, etc. That's the reason why sometimes I just dont update my Shops..:( I use picasa for editing.

Been fiddling with the hankies I listed HERE. The thread color is actually baby pink and baby blue...so I want to
highlight that color, but couldn't get the right background..~sigh*

Here few that I've done yesterday:

Blog Features

Today, as usual I checked out my ETSY shop and got one convo from MELINDA saying that she put up the photos from my shop in her blog. It's very nice of her. I mean..this is the first time someone did that to me....:) Thanks alot Melinda..

Here is her post:

That's all...and have a nice day...

Save the TREE and use COTTON HANKIES

Well, these hankies I made for my upcoming craft show. In here we dont use much Tissue hankies. Most people use Cotton Hankies. So I thought of making something cheerful.I use 100% cotton fabric. It's double and I did the buttonhole stitch all around. In few hankies I put Iron-ON Applique, and in some I embroidered.
Thanks for looking and all comments are most welcome..^_^..

Installing A HUSBAND

Email Forward from a friend:

INSTALLING A HUSBAND

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from

Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewellery applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition,
Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as
Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as
NBA 5.0,
NFL 3.0 and
Golf Clubs 4.1.

Conversation 8.0
no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.

Please note that I have tried running
Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

What can I do?
Signed,

Desperate

**************

DEAR DESPERATE

,

First, keep in mind,
Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Please enter command:
ithoughtyoulovedme.html and try to download Tears 6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0update.
If that application works as designed, Husband1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewellery 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.

However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause
Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1.

Please note that Beer 6. 1 is a very bad program that will download the Farting and Snoring Loudly Beta.

Whatever you do,
DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.)

In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the
Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crashHusband 1.0.

In summary,
Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend:
Cooking 3.0 and
Hot Lingerie 7.7.

Good Luck!!!

Steering Wheel

My elder son is soo crazy about cars..he collects car pics from magazines, car brochures, etc. He even had one "gear" (broken one). Everyday he will set up his "CAR" i.e: 2 chairs, One Gear Box, and a steering Wheel

One day he came up to me with an idea and a used card board on his hand. "Mama please make a steering wheel for me.YOu know, you just make a circle here and cut it". Well, since it was his crafty idea I dont have the heart to say No. I did what he asked. The next day, he fiddled with the steering wheel and came up to me again. He said, "you know, actually the middle part is not like this. It should be like this and that bla bla bla" He explained to me how the Zen Estillo's steering wheel look like. SO I made it, add the S and he color it. And today he said "The S is not like this, you know. I'll show you one picture and please make one for me". So here is the latest version of Rizqi's Zen Estillo Steering Wheel..

It may be simple and made of used card board, but he really proud of it. And so far he had 2 steering wheels, the other one is Toyota Innova..:D

Vrooooooom........

Few That I have Done

I haven't post anything in here for a long time now...:D. Been a lil hectic and busy with my other BLOG and "meeting" old friends in facebook..yeah, it's quite time consuming actually. That's also the reason I'm avoiding chatting on YM too often since I will never get anywork done..LOL.
Anyway, here are few things I've done in the recent past.....Now my other projects already line up..:( and I'm going for holidays for a month!!!....YAY...

Smocked Dress

Lil Tunic for lil girl

The Bag with ribbon embroidery

Aha...Yukata wa loli..for my dear friend.
I know it looked a lil bit funny cos I dont have mannequin, hence my coat hanger..LOL

The other one
the OBI well...it's "instant OBI" kind of thing
That's all for today...I hope to finish few things before I go for holidays...*excited*

Mithai

What's the significant of Indian Sweets? Pertama-tama waktu baru "mendarat" di sini, kalo bertamu selalu di suguhin "sweets" atai Mithai dalam bhs Indianya. India is BIG in celebrating their festivals. Whatever the occasions MITHAI is always there. Misalnya beberapa minggu lalu waktu Rizqi ketrima di sekolahnya yang baru. I went to his current school (shamrock) to tell the teachers that Rizqi got a seat. And immidiately one of them said "Ohh you must give us mithai"..OMG, I forgot all about it. Then immidiately I went to the nearest Mithai shop and bought few packets of mithais.

Besides that, when we go for visiting it is "customary" to take Mithais for the host. When someone in the family is doing well in their exam, when the baby is born, when opening a new shop, when your daughter got a good proposal (of marriage), and all the religious festivals ..Mithais is always there...

hmm...in fact we just finish our second box of new year mithais and opening the next one...hehe...ada yang mau?? please help your self...LOL
