More Passport Wallet and Keyfobs

Hello again,

After a round of viral flu in our family during the last week of August and first week of September, now I'm back to sew again and has a long list of stuff (orders and not) that I have to finish. In the meantime I finished a couple of family passport wallets and also keyfobs. 

Hello London Travel Wallet

World Map Passport Holder

The map passport holder above is for 8 passport slot. I do love the green combo. This is the second one that I made for custom order. I got the fabric from an Etsy seller in the US. It's Tim Holt's Eclectic Elements. I got several map prints together to save up on the shipping. Shipping for US to India is quite expensive and on top of that I had to pay for custom duty. But it's worth it! Don't you think? 

Disney and Elephant Key fobs

The fabric key fobs and key rings are so much fun to make. It's such a scrap friendly project that you can sew it in a jiffy. The Disney key fobs only available for 2 pieces above. That's the only pieces I have left in my stash. 

 I especially love the denim keyring. I wanted to use the fobs like the Minnie Mouse key fobs but it turned out it's too thick for the fob to set in. My sons and DH love the swivel hook version though, because it's easier to attach and detach your keys.

Ah btw, I had  a lovely gathering last Saturday with fellow crafter/artist! Mostly are young crowds and I love their enthusiasm, which is very contagious! We're planning an exhibition sometime before Diwali here in Guwahati. Subscribe to my Blog to get the updates for follow my Instagram.

Finishing star quilts

Hello everyone,

It's almost end of August and I have not written any blog post this month. There are so many things going on this month. Sometimes, I open my laptop and trying to write something but I can't think of something. Too many things going on in my mind.

Well, sewing wise, I finished 2 quilt tops (yay!!) and now are with Tsala Studio in Bangelore for quilting. 

The quilt top above is from the quilting bees we did in Desi Quilter in 2013 (OMG!!). Thank you Sudha Sekhar, Prasanna Narasimhan, Nikhat, Damayanthi Bhat, Manju Narain, Tina Katwal, Sandhya and Aliya Mir for making these blocks for me *group hugs*

For the backing, I wanted in yellow. I have another yellow and blue print which I thought I will use but when I put them together, I feel it's too busy. So I stick to the original idea. I found this mulmul cotton fabric in yellow with small white flower print. It's perfect!! 

The second quilt top is this Double Friendship Star quilt. The block is based on MSQC Youtube Tutorial. I started this quilt last year. I posted my progress in Instagram . I used batik Jellyrolls and white cambric cotton for the background. The batik part finish at 40" x 48". I thought I will finish it as another throw quilt but then I want the quilt to be usable. I have a few throw quilt which mostly end up in my cupboard :D

After browsing Pinterest for idea, I decided to add wide borders in white. I added 9.5" wide on the sides and 12.5" wide on the top and bottom. I love how it turned out! 

For backing I chose multi color ikat print in glace cotton. Glace cotton is very soft and it has a glossy finish. I love it!! 

Oh and I have 2 blocks left which I will make cushion covers! Yay! 

Well, finished is always better than perfect, right? Finally this winter, we will have new quilts. yay!

I still have one more bee blocks to assemble. I already got an idea and hopefully it will work out :D

A New Batch of Small Bifold Wallets

Hello,

I made a few small bifold wallets last month but two of them have been claimed. I love using small wallet especially when I take my mini sling bag. Since the boys are grown up, I mostly take sling bag when I go out, that's why I need a small purse which I can just slip it into my small purse. 

I am quite a minimalist that way, because normally I only take 3 cards and cash/changes. And I somehow my wallet always full of receipts which I often forgot to throw away. Bin is not something that easily available near the cashier counter in here. Maybe they should start one.

Mini Make-up Pouch Bag

I made this mini make up pouch cum sling bag for Jasmine. My friend's daughter who recently had her 5th birthday party. Too bad I could not go to her party because hubby had to work late that day and I don't drive (anymore). 

I filled up the pouch with nail polish and lip glosses. I simply love watching her doing her girly stuff. 

Finally I gave her the bag on Sunday and she was thrilled. She wouldn't let anybody to touch her bag:D

Yes, I believe handmade gift is always the best!

On second note, I've been using Snapseed for editing my photos and I've been trying to write blog from my iPad but could not write /edit properly. For example, the page won't scroll down after the second photos are uploaded. Sometimes there are so many things I want to write and I am too busy or tired to sit and write on my laptop. What I do nowadays is I click the photos with my camera, transfer them to iPad and upload to my blog as a draft post and edit it when I have time. 

Bt the way, I am using blogger here. What about you? Do you blog from iPad/Mobile? How do you go about it? 

Please let me know in the comment if you have any tips for blogging from mobile/iPad, I'd really love to hear about it.

Orphan Block Wall Decor Idea

Orphan block in the hoop. I kinda like it !

I have a few orphan blocks and this is one of them. For now let it be on the hoop until I get better ideas.

I made this block as I made the previous ones, but this is from my recent scraps. There are tula pink from this Tula Pink Wallet and also Olaf print from this Mini Sling bag. The stripes are from leftover binding strips and the florals are from bifold wallet (here and here)

Scrap is always full of sweet memories.
