It was a good week

Yes, it was a busy week for me. Inspired by Sarah of Confession of a Fabric Addict post  Make a List Monday, I started noted down my order list last Monday. And I'm glad I did, because I could cross few orders off the list!

I love this handwoven ikat! The one I made earlier I gifted to hubby's niece. It's such a versatile clutch. I'm currently using one too.

And who doesn't like this bag? It's so spacious that you can carry everything in it.

This time, instead of using grey burlap, I used handwoven grey linen. It's such a beautiful fabric. The texture itself give a bag so much of character, isn't it? This  ikat tote bag is perfect to carry while traveling.

This African inspired print is one of my favorite print. It's unique and colorful. The customer wanted to be personalized with the family name.
I did the embroidery by hand. Personally I prefer hand embroidery any day. I love doing it and I wish I had more time to do.

I had so much fun working on this passport holder. When the customer messaged me that she was originally from Shillong and now living in the UK, I was pleasantly surprised. In her words " Hi! I was browsing on Etsy looking for a large travel wallet to keep all our passports in for our upcoming holiday at hoe and your product came up. I almost fell off my chair when I saw your shop location!! Gauhati!! I come from Shillong and now stay in  the UK 😊😃 It is a small world!".

She chose the fabric combo from my fabric shop. working with the new fabric combo is always exciting.

And I'm happy with how this passport wallet turned out. Such a happy girl color :)

Even though I'm not a "plan it all" kind of person, I think by making List every week or month can help me stay focus on my work because I tend to get easily distracted.

What have you completed this week?

Until then,

Linky Party :

The best compliment!

I went to the mall last week with my son. After doing our groceries shopping, I lingered in the bag section and was thinking to buy small wallet that will fit my mini sling bag.

Image result for sewing is my superpower

And as I was choosing, my son become impatient and told me "Mama, why do you want to buy the wallet? You can make one ! "

I was surprised -- proudly surprised that my son acknowledged  my "super power" :D

I came home fully recharged and decided to complete these two wallets. The black one I started earlier but somehow got sidetracked (as usual).

I had lots of fun choosing the fabric for this card wallet. The pink fabric was from my previous quilt projects and it was matched perfectly.

This black card holder is the 12 cards slot variant.
Same like the previous slim wallet that I made

Don't you love the hidden zipper? It's so shabby chic !

and then my regular customer messaged me on facebook if I can make 16 cards variant, and I said of course!! She wanted in Indian prints and after looking at my shop, she wanted this indigo blue like the tote bag I made earlier.

This indigo blue wallet is the 16 cards wallet. Look how slim it is, even with the cards and notes inside.

I combined it with tan textured shot cotton. Perfect combo.

and as usual, I love to finish the binding by hand. Somehow hand sewing make me relax especially when I have this romantic korean drama to accompany me. Ha!!

I was on the last part of Lee Sang Yoon - Kim Ha Neul "on the way to airport" drama in KBS. It is such beautiful drama with realistic story line. What I love best, is this drama give you exposure to Korean Bojagi Patchwork , make me want to go back to Korea and visit all those patchwork museums and folk village *sigh*.

Ah by the way, the wallets is now listed in my ETSY shop. Let me know if you want in other print, I have more fabrics {since I'm a hoarder ^^} you can choose from.

Until then,

Happy Sewing

Trip to Hong Kong

Few days ago, a facebook friend Sunita posted about taking unpaid leave  to travel. Well, I certainly would do it. Life is too short to spend in one place, right?

After marriage and kids, travel seems to be a distant dream, but believe me, we need to go out there, take the kids off their gadgets and start looking around you instead of glued to the HD screen.

My 13 and 11 years old boys are just like any other boys who prefer  lounging around and play games  in their gadgets during holidays.

Hong Kong
Last summer we went to Hong Kong, which they enjoyed.  We still laugh at how my younger son kept disappearing to explore the stalls in the Temple street night market or any other places we visited.

The boys enjoyed reading GPS map to find our Big bus stop. The younger one was fascinated by double decker busses and always made us sit in the upper deck.

How we were all  so worried during our day trip to Shenzhen when one couple in our group was detained in the immigration because he forgot to bring their return air ticket.

{this is why you need a travel wallet, esp if you travel with family }

Even though they were tired of walking around in Hong Kong summer heat, they still enjoyed street shows and looking around.

They learned that there are  more interesting and exciting things to see and to do out there then looking at their gadgets.

Travelling indeed is life lesson : learn to be away from the comfort of the home, to be discipline, to be aware of what's happening around you, to be alert, and most importantly to enjoy yourself.

Yes, travel will definitely enrich you as a person, as a family. Give your children memories to treasure.
