When I am feeling green

The weather was cold last Sunday and I just needed to do something while sitting and watching my weekends drama.

So I picked up embroidery threads and start doodling. Embroidery is therapeutic :)
This "wish you luck" mug rug will be a great gift for someone who has to stay up late studying or working on a project!

And my second green project was this iPad sleeves. I used to wonder why one need gadget sleeves if you already have smart cover? Well, you know what..you need a sleeve for your gadget! Cos when you put it inside your purse the smart cover tends to flip.

And if you are frequent flyer, you definitely need one to protect your gadget during the security check.

This one featured warli art print. warli art is very popular in India. It depicts the everyday life of adivasis tribe in India.

So why not grab one for your self. I have several style listed in my Etsy Shop and it's customized friendly. Or if you want to make one yourself, you can always get the Warli Fabrics from my Fabric Shop

Today, it's still gloomy here
I hope you have a cheery weather ^^

Thanks for stopping by

I need a new iPad sleeve

I was cutting off jelly rolls for the shop and looking at my design wall. I made this test block a couple days ago and just put it up in my design wall

I was thinking of making mug rug with it. But then, I need an iPad sleeve. My iPad has a smart cover but it's tearing off and it's not even 6 months old =,=.
I bought it in Changi Airport for $35 >,<

So, I put my jellyrolls away and start working on it and after an hour my iPad has a new sleeve. Yay!

It fits snugly and I love the grey combination . Quilted using my favorite stitch.

I used double batting - outer and lining to give more protection.

I still have the fabrics and I think I'll put it up in my shop for custom order.

I realize one thing:  I love working on patchwork with small squares 2.5" - 3" and HST from charm piece

Ah, I still have few WIPs that I plan to finish before the end of this month {IF I'm not distracted} . One of them is this placemat. It will be a set of 4 and I almost finish with the quilting.

and this pink bunny n cat wallet for my SIL's niece

and here's the sneak peek of the jellyrolls

With one family wedding coming up and the little R has his monthly assessment, I hope I can finish at least those two.

Until then

WIP update

Which part of quilting is your favorite?
I love the piecing part
putting together small fabrics into something bigger is really exciting

and playing with them in my "small" DIY design wall is so much fun

the mug rug I made as trial I gift it to my sons' piano teacher
as a thank you gift
The Big R has recently passed his 1st grade Trinity Exam with 80% marks
He did well, in spite of him having school exam at the same time

So, I made another one for the QAL, but got carried away =,=
the size is too big!

I think I'm going to go with 9" block finished size
I got all the strips ready

Meanwhile, I finished piecing half of this quilt
another 3 sets (12 blocks) to piece
that will have to wait until I'm back from the holiday

I'm trying to get organized here
besides the small quilt projects
I'm trying to piece at least 2-3 blocks of the bigger projects

I guess doing several projects together has its own excitement
but when it comes to quilting it
that's another story
I have 3 tops which ready to quilt
and I don't know when I'm going to pick them up

meanwhile, if you're looking for some bundles to cheer you up
I just added Fat Eighth and Charm Packs in the shop today

Until then

Lots of brightness

I've been making mug rugs and coasters for the past 2 days

I love making mug rug and coasters
mostly, I made for gift and for home

I love using these folded coasters as candle mats

the handmade candle I bought from one lady I met when I was having local craft show

And who doesn't love mug rug?

I used a lot of mug rug. Some of them are gift

I have one in my room which I use to cover my mini chest drawer
one next to my laptop as mouse pad
One I use as a mat to put my study lamp

Now, I started listing them in the SHOP

I'll be making a lot more
since I love gifting them to my customers too
and they always love it

once more shot of the mug rug
the denim blue fabric is shot cotton or we call it handloom here in India

Ah, nothing like India when it comes to fabrics
unique prints and vibrant colors
even after 12 years, I still go mad whenever I visited fabric market

I have 7 mug rugs but only listed 6 of them
 I'll be keeping one
since the same fabric is no longer available

Until then

Happy Quilting

Going scrappy ...

Are you on Instagram? well, I love spending few mins everyday looking at crafty people post across instagram.

one day I saw this cute scrappy mini 9 patch block from Karamatsews . It was  QAL started by Heather of Houseofalamode

I took out a little but of my scraps {I have 2 huge bins full of scraps..eeww }

I admit, the cutting was the toughest part
I spent almost 2 hours  sorting out and cutting 2" squares

and after a little bit rest with cream crackers and herbal tea
I made these

aren't those cute?

If you like, go and join the fun
make  one block at a time

it can be as a stress buster or as a happy ending after a day's work
or when you feel low
it's good for mindless sewing {mmm I don't know if it's the correct term}

what I like most is every little scrap in these blocks have its own memories
remnants from my sewing journey
when I see it, I was like
"oh, this is from the dress I made for so and so"
"Those are from baby quilt I made for so and so"

Now go and find #scrappypostagestampqal in Instagram and be inspired ^^

Until then...

First Installment

Remember in my last post I showed you fabrics strips that I cut. In fact I cut a little bit more. I cut 6.5" strips and jelly rolls.

I wanted to do a quick strip quilt. And here what I ended up with

slim table runner!!
I quilt it in the ditch cos I just got this fancy foot for my new HV ^-*

the back is olive green. ❤

oh I did the binding using the flat felled foot based on THIS tutorial

I did a little  adjustment since Bernina and HV foot has a different width.

I still prefer handsewn binding for small quilt though
But sometimes I'm just not in the mood to do hand sewing, esp when there's no interesting K-drama to accompany me. Ha!!

By the way, RPQ has a good tips on binding on her Instagram. I just saw it today and I may give it a try on my next one.

if you want to purchase the runner it's available on my ETSY shop
or if you want the fabric, you can go to my FABRIC SHOP

Until next time

Happy Quilting

What inspired you?

Well, for me, when I'm not in the mood to sew, usually folding fabrics do the tricks, esp.during "that" time of the month when my mood usually at the lowest.

Last week, I've got my fabric stocks delivered for my Etsy shop but I was just not too excited about it. Until I took them out from the package. Ha!

For those who's not familiar with Indian cotton, you should really try this. This one is soft light weight cotton which is suitable for any projects.

whether you want soft love volume floral prints

or bright flowers

or an autumn warm colors

After a whole day of folding and photographing all those, I cut up few strips.
I have  lots of plans and ideas in my head.

Let's see what I will make out of these strips

Until then

Happy Sewing

Let's get some UFOs done

How many UFO projects do you have?
Me? Umm...more then a dozen, at least -_-
I have mostly small orphan blocks from trial and error. I think I am going to make a pot holder and dish mat with that.

OK, lemme start showing off now ^_*

These 2 table runners were  meant for a bigger quilt but I get distracted, besides I don't have enough space in the house to keep big quilts.

D Pink, blue and yellow looks very refreshing. Simple disappearing four patch which I did after watching video tutorial in MSQ youtube channel.
Hey, don't you love how Jenny makes quilting look so easy??!!

and I got a matching backing fabric

Second one is this yellow and blue pinwheel. I was obsessed with these two colors few months back ^v^ and cut a whole bunch. Since big quilt is off, now I can make more blue and yellow mini quilts.

I quilted using decorative stitched. I was going to do serpentine stitch but forgot to change the setting and started with straight line. I was too lazy to unpick it (who doesn't?) and decided to use 2 straight lines and 2 serpentines. and I LOVE how it turned out. Yay!

Enough rambling... now I'm off to watch my Kdrama ^^
Goodnight

Until then...
