How to Batch Sewing Masks

India

How's everyone doing? I am still sewing masks and taking a break in between. I usually cut the fabrics in batches. All you do is fold the fabric a couple of times and pin the pattern on top and start cutting. I laminate my pattern so that I can use rotary cutter 😄

Next I will start chain sewing, one dart at a time. That way I can safe a lot of time, instead of finish one mask at a time, I can finish 10-12 pieces at a time.

All you need is a little planning. Once you decide the fabrics, cut them multiple at a time. I usually cut 6 or 8 pieces of the same print.

Once done, stack them together and when you have 15 minutes, simply pick up a few pair and start chain sewing.

Don't forget to put on some good music or movie (or Kdrama for me ) .
Before you know it, you will have a dozen finish. Don't rush! We're not on competition here, make a small batch each day as time permit. Remembers your health is also important to be able to keep sewing. Make sure you have enough rest so you won't lose steam midway!

In the meantime, I've been busy tidying up my fabric stocks (since we're on lockdown and I cannot send physical products). I sorted them out by color and also by size. I still have a long way to go though. At least this will keep me busy, as I heard on the news few districts will have lockdown extension. Let's hope for the best!

I read on the news today that several countries will start easing lockdown and let people go back to work and they have to wear their own protective gear. Please do take care if you're one of those who has to go back to work and use public transport! I pray that God will always protect all of us and help the scientist to come up with vaccine soon!

Midori Super Cute Mini Wallet Pattern

Finally this midori mini wallet pattern that's been on my draft folder for almost 2 years now available in my Etsy Shop and on special 40% lockdown discount!

Title of the document Get the Pattern on Etsy

It's the mini version of the older sister - the Trifold Card Wallet Organizer. Come to think of it, I think I should give proper name to my patterns ^^. If you're wondering, Midori means Green in Japanese and the name is for obvious reason because I was working with the green apple print (ha!).

Anyway, Midori has this mini zippy pocket on the exterior, which is very handy! You will learn how to make invisible zipper pocket the easy way using all purpose zipper!

This mini wallet also has 6 card slot and 2 mini slip pockets. It's perfect for those days when you just want to go out for midnight snack in the neighboring convenience store! It fits perfectly into your jeans pocket, it's only 4.5" W x 4" H afterall.

Since it's pretty small, it's great for scrap buster project. You know for all those small cuts you keep waiting for a perfect project to come along :). Yup, this is a perfect one! And why learning something during this lockdown and drive away your blues!

How to Make Face Shield or Face Guard - Free Pdf Pattern

I got a message from my sister in Indonesia that she needs face shield and asked me if I know someone who make and sell them. At this time like this, I wish I could make for her and my family back home. But we live so far away from each other.

I told her it's easy to make one but then I am the only one who can sew (and my mom but she doesn't do much sewing nowadays).

So today, I am sharing this super easy tutorial for those who may need it to protect themselves and their families.

It's super easy and quick sew. I put together a PDF File with templates for you to download.
I used a thick (maybe around 0.8 mm) clear vinyl, the one that usually used for table covering. You can off course upcycle clear vinyl from new duvet or bed sheet  packaging, etc. The bias binding around the vinyl will stabilize it, if your vinyl is not thick enough.

I showed my SIL and she loved it. She wanted few for her Lab staff. I hope, I can get the vinyl as government has allowed certain business activities from tomorrow. Or else I have to wait until lock down is over on 3rd May.

The face shield really remind me of Korean Ahjumma visors ^^. When I showed it to my friend, Eva, she said she needs one to use when she peels/cut onions. Well, now I guess I need one too ^^.

Any way, I hope you like the tutorial. Please download the pattern using the link below.

Thank you for your continued supports!

Easy Scrub Hat Patterns

Get the Pattern on Etsy

Hello,
I hope everyone is keeping well. I've been working on few pending patterns that are in my draft folder for a long time :D.
Creating pattern especially with templates takes time. From making samples, try it out, make sure the templates are correct, taking photos, editing and the tough part is writing the words! Many times, my brain freeze and I just had to leave it ^^.

I've been working for this banded scrub hat pattern for a couple of weeks. It's based on my original tutorial 9 years ago. I tweak the pattern to fit most adult with head circumference 58 cms or 23 inches and Kids size with head circumference 20-21 inch.

This surgical cap pattern comes with full scale patterns in 2 sizes which you can easily print on your home printer. Everybody has different head size, so I added a tips on how to  scale up or down the scrub hat. For example, my SIL (who is a doctor) loves the hat to cover  most of the forehead, while my elder son (who has a big head with narrow forehead) prefer a slightly narrow hat. I prefer the narrow one to wear as underscarf but love the broader one to cover most of my head when I am cooking :). Oh yes, I wear head covering when I cook for hygienic reason.

The pattern is available in my ETSY shop for minimal price. Or if you like simply click the button below this post to get one.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Take care & stay well.
