Vintage Style Passport Wallet

Handmade Passport Wallet
Vintage Style Passport Wallet

Finally finished this small passport wallet order and it's now on its way to Hawaii! I got a few orders from Hawaii this last few weeks. There was a little delay with the previous order as turned out the shipping to Hawaii fall under remote area delivery. After discussion with my courier partner, we decided to go with USPS as it's the most economical one, even though it cost a little bit more than what the customer paid. But it's alright. The express shipping by FedEx and DHL are also available but it's way more expensive.

Anyway, I really love this vintage Paris theme fabric. Eifel Tower print is my all time favorite pattern. I have many in my stash! This was one of those impulsive buy, but when you go to Japan, you'd want to buy so many fabrics as you can!

Anyway, I think this voyage passport wallet turned out really nice. I still have enough fabric to make 2 more wallets, so this wallet is available for pre-order in my Etsy Shop now.

I also added another passport wallet in Navy theme. The color is a kind of robin egg blue, very pretty color but it's a bit of challenge to find the perfect combination. This blue polka dots is the best combo I can find in my stash. Maybe I should try with another combo.

If you notice, I use a new photo background in the photos above. Nowadays we have so many options for photo backdrop. I think after the pandemic or so. Before that, it was  expensive, so I used to buy roll wallpaper and use it as a background for my photos!
So now I’ve got these wallpaper rolls that I didn’t use, I figured I would put them on the inside of my fabric cupboard. The cupboard was custom made and the carpenter just painted the inside of the cupboard to save money. It is how it is, but I like the way it turned out. At least the wallpaper is not wasted.

I've been doing a lot of  organizing around my sewing room lately. I keep saying I should start de-stashing some of them. This year maybe I should! There are a few things I want to do this year, besides de-stashing, I'd like to again streamlining my website so that it's manageable for me, as I run my small business all by myself. There are a lot of scenarios and also things to think about. As I am going through perimenopauses stage now, it seems like my brain is scattered all over the place, so I need to make everything as simple as possible so that I can manage it well. Well, I'll do this slowly, Insha Allah within the next 6 months or so.

That's all for today. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Have a nice day!

Foxy Passport Wallet with curvy edges and Konmari Updates

Guwahati, Assam, India
Hello,

How's your week going on? My week's been pretty busy but in between I went to spa and pamper myself. The Marie Kondo book "The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up"  has arrived and I'm currently reading it. I will finish the book and will plan my "konmari" move ^_^.  So far in my sewing room, I already put all my tools and hardwares in one corner. Arranging the fabric stash would be the tough part. I am thinking of destashing fabrics which does not spark joy anymore. So if you're in India and would love to get the first news of my fabric destash, make sure to join the group on Facebook or follow me in Instagram @chezvies_shop.

In the meantime, I finished this wallet yesterday. This is another take on my Passport Wallet pattern. I had this fox fabric for a while and I thought it will be a fun travel wallet.

I combined it with  brown polka dots fabric. I always come up with one idea and I usually improvise as I go along. As I was cutting interfacing for the flap, I decided to make a curvy flap. It looked really good and I loved it.

As for the card slot, I wrote a tutorial in this POST to get a patchwork style card slot.

And then as I was going to the binding part, I was in two minds- curvy edges or straight edges. I thought making bias binding was too much of work. But I wanted curvy edges, so I stopped working and went about doing other chores.
In the evening I went back to my sewing table and decided let's make the bias! And it's so worth it!!
Travel Wallet

Upon reading Marie Kondo Books, I realized that, doing or keeping something that truly "spark joy" give us an immense happiness and satisfaction. With all the  instant updates we always see in social media, sometimes as a handmade maker, we feel rushed. We jumped to the rat race and forget to enjoy the process. If you've been thinking for decluttering your space (and life), you might love to read the book.. Yes I know, I've been thinking along the same line too "why do I need to learn to tidy up?" but after reading the book, there are a few things I learn, like "putting things away created the illusion that the clutter problem has been solved".  That definetely sound like me LOL.

That's all for today. Thank you for stopping by, I hope you enjoy reading my post. Leave a comment if you'd like me to make video on bias binding.

Until then,

Have a nice weekends,

~Elvira~

Passport Card Sleeve Pattern - Testers Photos Part 3

Hello,
Passport Card Sleeve Pattern

I really love how the above black and white passport cover turned out. While making the pattern, I always did a few to make sure that everything was OK before I sent the pattern to the testers. Even with all the sewing, there's always something that I missed. Hence the pattern testing stage is very important, even for a basic simple pattern.

The ladies who helped me with this pattern were simply awesome and also I want to thank Namrata of Bagstock who helped me proofreading every single draft. A big thank you once again to everyone (group hugs!!!).

Now, let's jump in to see the last part of the tester photos! Some of the testers made a couple of Passport sleeve. You can also check their photos in my Pinterest.

As usual, don't forget to click the link to see more of their works!

What do you think? If you wonder is this pattern for beginner? Yes it is! If you want to learn the basic of wallet making, this might be the pattern you want to try. The pattern is written in simple English with photos and diagrams to make it easier for non English speakers to understand. I know how frustrated it is to learn sewing from foreign language book!

Now, go ahead and purchase the pattern while it's still on SALE in  ETSY as well as in the WEBSHOP and sew your weekends away ^_^.
