Craftsy News, Discount Code & Mini Zipper Pouches

Hello,

Some of you might already heard about the current Craftsy changes and although I am one of the fortunate one to keep my shop, but now only one pattern is available in Craftsy. For those of you in India, you can always buy the pattern from my Webshop.  But those who are outside India, besides Etsy, now you can also purchase the pattern in my new Pattern Shop

So, that was about craftsy and on crafting side, I made a few zippy pouches for orders last week and made some extras too for the shop.

Floral Mini Wallet

Brown Polkadot Pouch
These pouches are just addictive to make. They are great to carry around and to gift to your friends and family. I always keep few pouches around in case I need a gift for my friends.
One thing I know, people love handmade gifts! No matter how small it is.

Purple Dots

I made these cute mini wallets using the Zipper Tissue Pouch Pattern which is super easy and fast to make. The buyers wanted a padded wallet, so I use a thin batting here. It's a bit tricky since it's very small. You can make a few for your handmade market or to give to your friends.

It's on SALE in my  Payhip Store .Use the code NEWHIP20 to get 20% off. The offer valid through 12 January 2019. So hurry up and get yours now.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Happy Sewing,

Doraemon and Floral Passport Covers

Doraemon Passport Cover
Who doesn't love Doraemon? He's smart, fun and full of ideas. My younger son still love watching Doraemon. Even I enjoyed watching the Hindi version, because that's how I picked up a few lines of Hindi. Sometimes I like to mimicking Nobita's Mom and my sons will rolled their eyes 0_0

I was chatting with Shweta last week or so and I admired her neat machine binding. So I decided to try on these wallets. They turned out quite decent. What do you think?

Peach Floral Passport Wallet
The key is same like any other binding, make sure that the fabric grain is straight before you cut the fabric. I used the same width as usual, 1.5" wide, and 1/4" seam allowance. While wrapping the binding over, make sure that it covers just a little bit over the stitch line, maybe around 1 or 2 mm but not more. Using lots of wonder clips will certainly help to hold the binding in place. Stitch as close to the edge as possible. That way, on the inner side of the wallet, the stitch will fall just along the fold.

For the floral passport cover, I used shot cotton a.k.a handloom fabric for the lining and card slot. The color just matched perfectly with the green on the floral print. Most of the time, finding the right fabric combo is the longest process. It's like finding a soulmate ;-).

Thank you for stopping by,

Happy Sewing!

Double Zip Wallet Video Clip

Yesterday I tried to made short video clip using my Sony A5100 for the first time. I usually used my trusted OnePlus 3 phone to take videos but using a proper camera is really different.

I recorded the video is AVCHD format which later on I learned that it will create a huge size of file. I searched on YouTube and learned how to convert it to MP4 file. Bless those people who shares important tutorials!! That's one of the first thing I learned this year. Now my camera is set on MP4 and it will be easier to transfer videos directly to my phone!

If you're an online seller, you must have heard that Video is going to be the IN thing this year when it comes to SEO. If you have not started already, you might want to teach yourself to create short clips of your products. There are many apps in App Store and Play Store you can try and experimenting! Check out more of my video clips on my YouTube Channel and don't forget to subscribe ^^.

Best Five of 2018

I stumbled upon Meadow Mist post where she has a linky party going on for Best of 2018. Blogging wise 2018 has been amazing for me. I wrote and shared more regularly and in the hype of social media sharing, blogging (for me) has been a steady anchor. I realized that managing 4-5 social media accounts with their ever changing algorithm is just impossible for me.

So, here is my best 5 of 2018: (Click the Title to go  to the original post)

This was part of being TGIFF host! I have the tutorial written on the blog but you can also download the FREE PDF version in HERE.

This is one of my personal fave. This is  when I conquered my own fear of small piecing and making quilted bag. There is always the first time they said.

One of my best sellers in my Etsy shop! You can get the pattern HERE or in Etsy.

This log cabin sling bag was made for order. Improved a few things from the first one. You can read a few tips on the Blog

This is tutorial for hand sewing wallet binding. As you may already noticed that I always prefer hand sewn binding whenever possible, since it gives a neater finish.

I'm looking forward to write more post in 2019 and hopefully will share more tutorials! Don't forget to subscribe to get latest updates!

Thank for reading my blog, I wish you a wonderful year ahead!!

Linky Party:

Double Zip Wallet and Travel Wallet

Hello,

It's almost the end of the year and December has been a busy month for me. Thank you so much for always supporting my small business.

In between working on orders, last week I went for a photography workshop held by Sony for Sony Alpha Camera Users.
Though it turned out to be more of marketing presentation but I enjoyed it nevertheless.  Especially looking at all those high end cameras and lenses

here are few things that's been happening

I made a green polka dot passport wallet  while working on orders and also made a camera strap sleeve. Isn’t that cool? I am thinking of add this in my shop. But I need to make a few more first! What do you think?

So about the double zip wallet (pattern by Noodlehead)  I finally cut this green apple denim fabric. Nowadays I am trying to make few pieces of one product.   This is one of my way to increase ready to ship stocks in my Etsy shop and of course to use my fabric stash ^^ . I hope with more ready to ship items, I will be driving more sales!
Besides, it makes me more creative. It's way more effective to do it this way that just scrolling Pinterest or Instagram.

I posted the above photo in Instagram a few days ago. I know posting on social media is easier and faster but I want to write a blog post about it too for my personal reference. It's easier to let the buyers know on my blog then scrolling endless Instagram Photos.

I love this simple wallet. It has all the necessary slots and pockets for your daily needs like slots for multiple cards, bills, mobile phone and of course the double zip pockets are very handy. Especially if you like to keep all those shop receipts like me ^__^.

I made a  little changes from the pattern, that is the way of attaching zipper. I used zipper tabs which I find easier for me. Though the top stitching part is a bit struggling. But I am happy with the result and I hope you too.

I have a few double zip wallet in the making right now which hopefully will be ready after New year! If you're in Instagram, feel free to follow my behind the scene stories. That's all for today, I better get back to my sewing table and finish up a couple of orders before the New year roll in.

Until then,

Happy Holidays!!

Double Zip Pencil Pouches

Hello,

Last month I made these pencil pouches for gifts. It was Sunday morning and my son said he needs a gift for his friend's birthday in the afternoon. I need to make something that's easy and quick.
When I said I'll make a pencil pouch, he immediately agreed. I've wanted to make this style of pencil pouch, anyway.

I used the Doitrei Pattern for the double zipper pouch one. (The pattern is now on sale in my Etsy Shop)

It's super easy. From the Double zip Pouch pattern, I extended the width from the pattern to 10 1/2 Inch and proceeded as per the pattern instructions.

Double Zip Pencil Pouch

This really makes a great gift for anyone. With multi compartments, they can easily stay organized and also they can keep their canteen coupons and ID Card (which are frequently forgotten ~ sigh)

This is my fave gifting pattern now since I love collecting scraps I can easily use them like the blue stripe I used here is from my previous project.

By changing the fabric print, you can make gifts for men or women, or boys and girls.

Well, everyone always needs pouches. All kinds, styles, and sizes of pouches.

If you need to make last-minute gifts, it's time to grab the pattern.
You can purchase from the Webshop (use coupon CVG20) or in my Etsy Shop (it's on sale through Monday!)

Thank you for stopping by,

Have a nice weekend,

~ Elvira ~

Cricket & Women Bifold Wallets

Hello December!

The last few weeks I was quite busy. The boys were having inter school cricket match one after the other. The elder one's under 16 Team won runner up trophy, while the younger one's under 13 Team came up 4th. A good performance for 1st timer on a competitive match! It was a huge learning experience for the younger team . We are very proud of them!

Well done!

I've learnt quite a few cricket terms  in those 2 weeks ! LOL .

******

On creative side, I'd like to thank all of you who came and purchased few items during the Cyber Week Sale!

I'm still working on few orders right now and added two bifold wallets in the shop. I really had fun making these wallets.

Green Bifold Wallet

I'm a huge fan of Riley Blake fabrics and collected quite a few. Most of them I bought from Etsy and some from my trip to Seoul. This green wallet was from the FQ bundle

I really love the cute fox and owl print. FQ bundle works best when we get stuck in mix matching! The polkadot don't come from the bundle though. The wallet is rather spacious with 6 card slots and zipper pocket. It can fit in your phone too!!

Sewing Theme Wallet

The second one is this sewing theme wallet. Sewing or quilting theme is another print that I tend to purchase more. I was browsing my fabric stash and saw the fabrics which I got from my trip to Indonesia.

Taking photo of these two were rather challenging. Somehow I could not get the best shot! Maybe I will try again when I get a good natural lights. December is always a bit cloudy here.

I have few more wallets cut and ready to sew and also have a couple of quilting projects that I need to finish!

Meanwhile, the boys are having unit test until next week. Wish us luck!!

What about you? What are you working on this week?

Thank you for stopping by!
