Pattern Update: Adding Flap Closure on Rosie Wallet

Hello,

Today, I will share how to make a slim flap for Rosie Wallet. This can be another alternative to the original pattern with the hidden flap. 

Materials:

Contrast fabric - cut 1 - 2" x 5.5" (5 x 14 cm)

Interfacing - cut 1 - 2" x 5.5" (5 x 14 cm)

STEPS: 

1. Iron the interfacing on the wrong side of the contrast fabric and fold the longer sides towards the center like in the picture below. 

2. Now fold the flap so that the short ends meet.

3. Sew around the three sides, leaving the raw edge side unsewn.

4. Place the flap on the center left of the exterior panel and baste stitch. The seam allowance is 1/8" (3 mm).

5. On the right side, install the snap button socket, approximately 1" (2.5 cm) away from the center.

6. The button cap should only placed through the exterior panel and the first lining panel. You can install the button cap before attaching the binding or after. 

7. On the flap, install the other part of the snap button approximately 0.5" (1.3 cm) away from the top.

Now continue finishing the wallet as per the pattern. That's super easy, right?

Rosie Wallet with Flap Closure

Last month, I made a few Rosie Wallet orders. This time the customer wanted a flap closure. This is one quick wallet that you can make over the weekends. The original pattern has a hidden button closure.

This year I promise myself I won't buy new fabrics and will only sew from my stash! and these are some of them. Last month I was busy sorting out my fabric stash, organizing my bag-making supplies and organising my WIPs. I found this metal button which matches perfectly for the wallet! Metal buttons, especially the antique color, give out rustic vibes, which I love. 

 

I use handloom or hand-woven cotton fabric from my stash for the fabric combo. I have always been fond of Indian handloom - its multi-hued colour looks very nice for my projects to use as an accent or combo. It's also easy to work with. 

Rosie Wallet pattern

The Rosie wallet is small and compact, it's just perfect to carry around every day. I love to carry one when I use a smaller handbag or crossbody bag. Nowadays, with mobile payment becoming more common, I hardly have to carry my credit or debit cards although I can literally fit in 10 cards in this small wallet.

Hanami Pochette

 Hello, 

Recently I introduced the new wristlet pattern, Hanami Pochette. I've been working on the pattern since early November or so and plan to release it in December. But life happens! I had tooth problems and had to visit the dentist a couple of times, then my son's pre-board exam started and at the same time, we were busy with his college applications. So my mind was all over the place. 

Now about the Hanami Pochette. It is a versatile minimalist wristlet wallet that is perfect for carrying essential items. The largest size can fit the largest iPhone Pro Max and also can be used to carry passports when traveling. The medium size can fit in the basic iPhone model.

The small size is my personal favorite because I like to carry small bags and it fits perfectly in my purse. The wrist strap can be easily used as a key fob. Here are the latest ones I made.

Cute Trifold Wallet - Lockdown Project

Finally this trifold wallet is done! It's a custom order which was finalized at the beginning of lockdown in March. She's a fan of Disney and wanted this specific fabric after she saw the family passport holder with the same print. Luckily I have just wide enough to make the wallet's exterior and a little bit for the wallet's interior.

Another addition she wanted was the ID window. For that, I used the 16 cards template from the pattern and added ID window on the top card slot. 

I personally love how this turned out and I hope she will too :). I just need to add personalization with her name. I'll update you on how I do it.

Before I made the big trifold wallet, we were discussing color combo option. And just to  see how it works, I made the Midori Mini Wallet - a little version of the big one.  But here I used stripe handloom fabric for binding, which I must say, turned out very cute. 

By the way, I reopen my Handmade shop in Etsy and also my Webshop. The government has announced that domestic flight will resume on the 17th, which at least I hope I can start selling again. 

I know that this pandemic will not go away soon, but we have to cooperate with the government orders and keep maintain physical distancing, wear a mask and wash your hands. Maintain hygienic lifestyle.
