This week I am a bit relaxed. I did a lot of cleaning and organizing in the sewing room and finished a couple of wallet orders. Clean table makes me more inspired to sew. Actually I tried to clean up after making orders, but when working on several orders and projects, it's just too bothersome to clean up everyday. I tried, but always failed. So now I stop trying haha. I will put the piles aside and will clean it up at least once a week.
Once in a blue moon, my table is clean
This week I made several Twinnie pouches, a few for orders and the rest to keep as ready to ship in my Etsy Shop. Even though it's quick to sew, but it's really helpful when I have a few wallets ready to ship. The pink patchwork pouch is one of the best sellers. I have one more set in the shop now.
I also finished Nuno Wallet order in this lovely green floral. The fabric is from Rifle Paper co. Sometimes I posted a short video on my YouTube Channel when I am hand stitching the wallet binding and a few weeks ago someone asked why I hand sew it. Sewing the binding by machine makes me nervous actually and frankly, I prefer to hand sew the binding as it always turned out neater.
This week I also take a couple of fabric photos to be listed in the shop. I still have a few fabrics which I recently procured but have not got time to take photos and edit it. Nowadays I mostly take photos using my iPhone as it's easier for me to edit and upload it. Here are a few that I recently added in the shop.
These fabrics are 100% cotton. Sometimes I kept aside a few prints that I love, and recently I got a few tops made. I'll take photos next time I am wearing them.
I shipped a few orders too this week. When shipping out orders, I try to keep it as simple as possible to minimize the cost since most my orders are for foreign buyers. And I try to use more eco-friendly packaging and use as minimal plastic as possible, but considering the weather and the distance, this is the best I can do right now. My recent favorite is using this honeycomb paper bubble wrap.
My friend, Eva, also came to visit us this week with her two adorable daughters. The younger one especially loves animal and we took her to feed the goats some breads. The goats (Karan and Arjun) loves eating bread. In the end, she also gobbled up a slice of bread. She's just too cute. Many children scared of animals, but this little one was just rushing and eager to play with the goats and the cows. It was one fun afternoon.
That's all for today. Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoy reading my blog.
Working with scraps is always satisfying. I made these mini pouches using scrap from my wallets and other bigger projects. These mini pouches are really quick and easy to make. They also make a great gift for your family and friends.
The finished size is about 5" x 3.5" (13 x 8.5 cm). Just perfect for carrying small items, like chapstick, lipstick, small change or even AirPods and a phone charger.
Here's the material you need:

Fabric strips in various widths 1" ~ 1.5" wide (2.5 ~ 4 cm) X 5.5" long (14 cm )
(the strip should be enough to make 2 patchwork panels measure 7" x 5.5" (18 x 14 cm)
Lining Fabric ( cut 2) : 6" W x 4.5" H (15.5 W x 11.5 H cm)
Over
the last month, I've been quite occupied. Although I intended to write blogs on a regular
basis, I never got around to doing it. However, with my younger son's
half-term exams completed and my elder one returning to college, I finally have
some free time to write!
Today, I just wanted to share with you
that I recently made some really cute mini wallets from scraps and even created
a tutorial on my YouTube channel! These wallets turned out great and I think
they could make awesome gifts, especially with the holiday season coming up.
I found that using narrow strips with a maximum width of about 1.5"
worked best for me. Personally, the narrower the better! All the details on how
to do this are provided in the video, but if you prefer to read rather than
watch, there's a written tutorial available on my website.
When
making scrappy patchwork, color combination is crucial. If overwhelmed by
choices, it's best to stick to single-color shades or a maximum of two colors,
such as pink and green.
I
also created a wrist strap that matches! You can find the tutorial for making
the wrist strap on my YouTube channel as well. It seems that mini wallets with short lanyards have become quite trendy these days. What about you? What's your favorite
scrappy project to work on?
Sequoia makes pretty dresses (you must check her Instagram!) and you can learn few things from her blog posts and videos!! I do binge watching Youtube tutorials pretty often and I am really grateful that there are people who shares their tips, techniques and hacks. The world really at your finger tips if you want to learn anything! So go ahead and watched the videos and let's keep creating!!
